Project Presentation

The COBRA project aims to develop best-of-its-class bipolar plates for automotive stacks with superior corrosion resistance, higher conductivity and durability while meeting commercial target cost. The project has a multidisciplinary character which implies joint efforts of specialists from various areas: chemistry, physics, material science, fuel cell engineering.


In the development and early commercialization of fuel cells (FC) for automotive, work on reducing the costs of all elements of the FC is a must. The Cobra project focuses on Bipolar plate innovation and production.


The COBRA project focuses on the technological choices and manufacturing process of Bipolar Plates (BP) metal with a target cost of manufacturing suitable for large-scale commercialization.


COBRA consortium combines the collective expertise of bipolar plate and coating suppliers, system integrators and research institutes.
